Christianity is still by far the most predominant religion in the world. Although it now comes in different forms and sects, it is still based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the belief that he lived and died for the forgiveness of our sins as based in the New Testament. However, there has been an alarming decrease of popularity of Christianity as well as the unbelievable decline in church goers over the past decades. For the believers, the call for raising Christian children is at its peak.
The tough road of instilling the Christian values in the changing times has been an uphill climb. However, hope still glimmers from a distant making raising Christian children a possibility. With the help of the church and the dedication of the parents, the rough and tough road ahead is still as near as the sun.
1. Be sure to always practice what you preach to your children. Everything an adult does- no matter how wrong - will become right in the eyes of a child. Be the best parent and person you can be with or without your child around. You do not have to be saintly but just mean what you say through your actions. Be the best Christian examples to your children.
2. Instill in your child the values of love, kindness and respect. These are the fundamental values from which every other good value springs or sprouts. When a child lives in an environment of love, he or she will radiate love wherever. If a child grows up in an atmosphere of kindness, he or she will not hesitate to give and help. If a child is respectful, he or she will be obedient to laws, to the authority and to the older people.
3. Always remind your child to do what is right and avoid what is wrong. By this way, when the child grows, he will know the consequences of doing anything bad and will refrain from doing it.
4. Bring the child with you to Church. He or she will know the fundamentals of his faith early on. Such faith will be strong and will not be easily shaken by even the strongest of temptations. He will serve and love only one God and live only by way of his teachings.
5. Always be there for your child in every Christian sacrament that will happen in his life. The observance of Christian belief should be instilled early on. The parental support will ease the child's anxiety with whatever that is going to happen.
These are only tips that will help a parent into raising Christian children. If there are other ways you can employ to ensure such occurrence, do not hesitate to use them. The more the methods are utilized, the greater is the chance to produce religiously-sensitive men and women of the future.
